Quick Tips for Making a Great Impression as a Designer
Hey everyone, I just wrapped up an amazing few days with some designers in my Luxury Client Academy here in Naples. We toured million-dollar homes, saw the best of Florida’s design scene, and had a fantastic time. If you’re curious about the Academy, my nine-month coaching program, let me know—I’d love to have you join us!
How to Impress in 5 Minutes
Today, let’s talk about making a great first impression, especially when time is short. During our recent event, we did something called hot seats, where each designer shared a challenge they’re facing. One designer had a chance to present to a hundred realtors but only had five minutes to do it. Here’s my advice: don’t waste those five minutes just talking about yourself.
Focus on What Matters to Them
Think about what your audience really cares about. For realtors, the big goals are selling houses faster and getting higher prices. If you can show you help them achieve those goals, you’re golden. So, instead of talking about your business, share impactful stories.
I asked the designer if she had examples of working with realtors. She had two great stories: staging a house that sold in a day, and another where her work upped the selling price by $200,000. These are the kinds of results that grab attention.
Get Their Contact Info
Don’t just leave your business cards on a table and hope for the best. Actively gather their contact details so you can follow up. When you’re in control of the contact, you can keep the conversation going and build a real relationship.
Think about these points the next time you’re networking or presenting. By focusing on solving their problems and making a quick, impactful impression, you’ll stand out from the crowd.
