“Pam impressed me so much during my association with her in a volunteer capacity that I hired her to work with my firm on a number of design projects. Her ability to focus on delivering the best possible solution as well as her creative approach made her a highly valuable contributor to our success on the projects she was involved with. She has wonderful ability to slice through the superfluous to get to the core of the matter quickly and does it with a smile. She brings extraordinary assets and comes well prepared.”
Suzan Globus, ASID National Past President, Globus Design
“Pam’s interior design and leadership skills are second to none. She is incredibly creative and constantly looking for new ways to stretch herself and inner designer. Her innovative new line of products is just one example of her superior business and design skills.”
Samantha Scott, President Pushing the Envelope
Pam is the best designer I have ever worked with. She has a great eye and is extremely professional and good at communication. I was so excited to see my project completed, I was like a kid at Christmas. She was so patient with us and the result is better than I could have ever imagined!
Elaine Hairston
I loved working with Pam. She has a great eye for design, great ideas and is great fun to work with! I didn’t hire a designer to agree with everything I wanted to do. She had fresh new ideas I hadn’t thought of to make my home much more special. She gave advice on looking at things differently and helped me see what was missing in a room or what pieces would work better in another place. That made all the difference, creating spaces that I truly love!
Joan Burton
Pam was a lot of fun to work with on our renovation project. She is very ‘cool’ and helpful at breaking down what is overwhelming into simple decisions. I have a lot of designer friends, but we chose to work with Pam, a great choice!
Jody P.
When we first hired Pam, our project was very straight forward. I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted the house to look. I like things simple and straight forward and budget was an issue. As we went through the process, Pam gently guided us to look at alternative options, which she felt would make us happier in the long run and be a wise investment. She always had our best interests in mind and we couldn’t be happier with the results. She proposed great ideas that created a home we love, love, love! We have and will continue to recommend Pam to anyone who is looking to renovate their home.
Gwendolyn & Jerry Messonnier
I renovated my entire unit and the process was pretty involved. Pam helped me sort through the furniture I should keep and what needed to go. I was happy that we were able to keep some pieces that I really liked and update them by refinishing and recovering. I love color, especially the jeweled tones, and Pam was able to incorporate all that while keeping the look polished. We also added some really cool textures on the walls which make each of the spaces look unique. I love the transformation and am so happy with my home!
Rose Ann Faber
We bought an existing home in Pelican Bay and Pam helped us see the potential it had to really fit our lifestyle. She reconfigured our Main Living Area, Kitchen as well as the Master Suite. Her design work was absolutely great in creating the feel that we wanted in our winter residence, open and breezy with plenty of flow and light. We are truly looking forward to enjoying our ‘new’ home!
Ron & Jeanne Ernst
We recently finished a complete renovation of our home. One of the best, if not the best, decisions we made, was hiring Pamela Durkin as a designer. Pam took charge of the project and advocated continuously on our behalf even in areas outside of her responsibilities. Pam caught mistakes before they happened and spent time with contractors insuring they understood what was required. Pam would take our input and generate outstanding and cost effective options. A major misconception about hiring a designer is cost considerations. Pam is not only reasonable, she saved us money in many areas. When friends ask us about the project, we always respond that it was fun, which people find unusual. It was an enjoyable experience and we think that’s the highest compliment we can give Pam.
Dan & Julie Petrosini
I am writing to let you know how proud and thrilled we are with our Grand Salon and Guest Suites projects. Pam went above and beyond to accommodate the needs for our residents and the board. We always felt as though we were a top priority and that her response time to our needs was very prompt. We get many compliments as guests walk into our beautiful building and see Pam’s design in our Grand Salon. It truly has captured the feel of our style while updating the look. Our Guest Suites are beautiful, tranquil and serene. We look forward to the season for all of our family and friends to enjoy these beautiful spaces. Special thanks to Pam for all of her time and expertise in helping to update our common spaces with such a beautiful result!
VaNita Laurito, Decorating Committee Chair, La Scala Condominium
“As a working professional with various interests, family and friends as priorities, I wanted to be certain that my project was going to achieve my desired ‘2018 and beyond’ remodel. I have to admit that I am a bit of a perfectionist and although I am budget minded, I truly valued the expertise and professionalism that Pam provided throughout the project. After an informal get acquainted meeting and telephone calls, I was amazed with her product selections at our first meeting. She was just dead on and I was all in! For me, the scope of my project welcomed Pam’s vision and savvy. Pam is the ultimate listener, very intuitive, big-picture minded and driven. She was the ultimate guardian and kept my expectations top of mind throughout the project. She was relentless and intervened with subs as needed to assure that all the details were met. I have and will continue to recommend her. I love my home and have gained Pam as a friend.”

  • Just like a good design, a successful business has to have layers and different elements that complement each other.
Ever wonder where to start first? New client marketing? Social media? Learn the latest software? Get another certification? I say, "No" to all of these.
I think just like this bed, it needs a sturdy base. To me, that starts with being disciplined with where you spend your time. Rather than just jumping into the next 'thing' to do, spend some time dialing in what's really going to make the biggest difference the fastest. Manage that and all the other layers will fall into place.
It's what I am teaching this month inside my program, The Elevate Inner Circle. If your curious, send me a note! .

  • Do you have a To Do list or a Success list?!?
We as designers love to “check items off our list”, it is SO satisfying, right?!? BUT, did you ever think about whether or not what you are working on actually moves your business forward?
There are a million “to do’s” and details to be taken care of in our business. It can, quite frankly, be overwhelming. I think there are a lot we are doing that can either be eliminated altogether, taken off your plate, or put in a template for the future.
Look at what you are working on and see if it really makes a difference to the client experience or finished product. If not, it is time to eliminate.
Can you delegate that to someone else like an assistant, vendor partner or intern? .
If it is something you do over and over, for every project, think about creating a template to make the process easier next time. I’ve created a ton of forms in my business, which have saved me SO MUCH time. .
This will create extra time for you to actively work your referral network, keep in touch with clients and determine how to take your business to the next level. .
What is on your Success List? I’d love to hear all about it!

  • Choose wisely.....multi-tasking leads you to be mediocre in everything.
Let me officially tell you, you are off the hook when it comes to "doing it all". By that I mean, running a business and then worrying about getting a certification, posting on multiple social media platforms, running to every potential client meeting just because "they called you."
I want you to sit and think which of these items will make YOUR boat go faster? Which one will have the greatest impact on the quality of your business, your sanity, your fulfillment as a designer?
Pick ONE and then concentrate on THAT for at least 30 days. Yes, we can be doing all the "things" but 1) Are we actually doing them or just stressing about doing them and 2) Do they make a REAL difference, in our business or do we just want to do them because everyone else is doing it?
Powerful but worth a few minutes of your precious time. Let me know what one thing you plan to concentrate on in the next 30 days to make your boat go faster?  I'd love to hear it and cheer you on from sunny FL!
