“Pam impressed me so much during my association with her in a volunteer capacity that I hired her to work with my firm on a number of design projects. Her ability to focus on delivering the best possible solution as well as her creative approach made her a highly valuable contributor to our success on the projects she was involved with. She has wonderful ability to slice through the superfluous to get to the core of the matter quickly and does it with a smile. She brings extraordinary assets and comes well prepared.”
Suzan Globus, ASID National Past President, Globus Design
“Pam’s interior design and leadership skills are second to none. She is incredibly creative and constantly looking for new ways to stretch herself and inner designer. Her innovative new line of products is just one example of her superior business and design skills.”
Samantha Scott, President Pushing the Envelope
Pam is the best designer I have ever worked with. She has a great eye and is extremely professional and good at communication. I was so excited to see my project completed, I was like a kid at Christmas. She was so patient with us and the result is better than I could have ever imagined!
Elaine Hairston
I loved working with Pam. She has a great eye for design, great ideas and is great fun to work with! I didn’t hire a designer to agree with everything I wanted to do. She had fresh new ideas I hadn’t thought of to make my home much more special. She gave advice on looking at things differently and helped me see what was missing in a room or what pieces would work better in another place. That made all the difference, creating spaces that I truly love!

Pam was a lot of fun to work with on our renovation project. She is very ‘cool’ and helpful at breaking down what is overwhelming into simple decisions. I have a lot of designer friends, but we chose to work with Pam, a great choice!

When we first hired Pam, our project was very straight forward. I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted the house to look. I like things simple and straight forward and budget was an issue. As we went through the process, Pam gently guided us to look at alternative options, which she felt would make us happier in the long run and be a wise investment. She always had our best interests in mind and we couldn’t be happier with the results. She proposed great ideas that created a home we love, love, love! We have and will continue to recommend Pam to anyone who is looking to renovate their home.

I renovated my entire unit and the process was pretty involved. Pam helped me sort through the furniture I should keep and what needed to go. I was happy that we were able to keep some pieces that I really liked and update them by refinishing and recovering. I love color, especially the jeweled tones, and Pam was able to incorporate all that while keeping the look polished. We also added some really cool textures on the walls which make each of the spaces look unique. I love the transformation and am so happy with my home!

We bought an existing home in Pelican Bay and Pam helped us see the potential it had to really fit our lifestyle. She reconfigured our Main Living Area, Kitchen as well as the Master Suite. Her design work was absolutely great in creating the feel that we wanted in our winter residence, open and breezy with plenty of flow and light. We are truly looking forward to enjoying our ‘new’ home!

We recently finished a complete renovation of our home. One of the best, if not the best, decisions we made, was hiring Pamela Durkin as a designer. Pam took charge of the project and advocated continuously on our behalf even in areas outside of her responsibilities. Pam caught mistakes before they happened and spent time with contractors insuring they understood what was required. Pam would take our input and generate outstanding and cost effective options. A major misconception about hiring a designer is cost considerations. Pam is not only reasonable, she saved us money in many areas. When friends ask us about the project, we always respond that it was fun, which people find unusual. It was an enjoyable experience and we think that’s the highest compliment we can give Pam.

I am writing to let you know how proud and thrilled we are with our Grand Salon and Guest Suites projects. Pam went above and beyond to accommodate the needs for our residents and the board. We always felt as though we were a top priority and that her response time to our needs was very prompt. We get many compliments as guests walk into our beautiful building and see Pam’s design in our Grand Salon. It truly has captured the feel of our style while updating the look. Our Guest Suites are beautiful, tranquil and serene. We look forward to the season for all of our family and friends to enjoy these beautiful spaces. Special thanks to Pam for all of her time and expertise in helping to update our common spaces with such a beautiful result!

“As a working professional with various interests, family and friends as priorities, I wanted to be certain that my project was going to achieve my desired ‘2018 and beyond’ remodel. I have to admit that I am a bit of a perfectionist and although I am budget minded, I truly valued the expertise and professionalism that Pam provided throughout the project. After an informal get acquainted meeting and telephone calls, I was amazed with her product selections at our first meeting. She was just dead on and I was all in! For me, the scope of my project welcomed Pam’s vision and savvy. Pam is the ultimate listener, very intuitive, big-picture minded and driven. She was the ultimate guardian and kept my expectations top of mind throughout the project. She was relentless and intervened with subs as needed to assure that all the details were met. I have and will continue to recommend her. I love my home and have gained Pam as a friend.”

  • What does a penny and a paperclip have to do with customer service?
I am at the Atlanta airport getting ready to board a flight, when our gate agent comes over the loudspeaker. She’s talking but it’s not the usual “boarding….blah, blah, blah”  speech, you know the one where they outline the thousands of levels for those to board the plane? Families with small children, military, those who need assistance, followed by Group 1-10 and then Main Cabin? (Who thinks of these things?) LOL, but I digress.
As she started chatting, I noticed those waiting in the terminal start to move closer and they all were smiling. The gate agent was playing games with the ‘audience.’
. + “Who has a penny older than 1974? The first one up here get a free drink voucher.” (You never saw people dig in their wallets so fast!)
. + “Anyone have a paperclip on them? First one to the ticket agent gets a free snack.” (You would have thought they were giving away a million dollars!)
People were scrambling to be the winner. Laughing and even clapping….in an airport…..waiting for a plane……
I thought, “This is all fun but Oh boy, we are going to be delayed." The funny thing is, we weren't, the flight left right on time. They were just entertaining us. Go figure! :) .

So, I ask you: + How are you engaging with your clients so it’s fun to be around you? . + How are you entertaining them or giving little wins all the time? Not just when you are making up for an oops that happened, but just because?
I hope this gets you thinking different because that will be how you stand out. .
